Model Madness

I've walked by plenty of movie sets in Boston but not once have I walked past a photo shoot. This model had a throng of observers as she posed for a photographer in front of the Taj Hotel on Newbury Street.

Hockey Fans Hit the Ice

I didn't realize that it's been cold enough for the Boston Public Gardens' pond to be frozen enough for ice hockey! I photographed these brave souls hitting the ice this past Friday (I know, I know, I've been slow to actually post it online!).

Congratulations are in order!

If you take a look at Whit's finger, you'll see why we're congratulating her! That's Whit and her fiancé Ed, who have actually been engaged for about three weeks, but apparently are cut out for the CIA as they kept that under wraps until this past weekend - despite people flat out asking "so when are you guys going to get engaged?".

Whit, Ed...I've been sitting here for five minutes trying to figure out how to say what I want to and can't, so here it is: You're both so awesome individually that when you first started dating it was like "does it get any awesomer than Whit and Ed as a couple?!" Well, I think it just did! Congratulations again, I love you guys!!!

A Day at Deluca's

Just a regular day at Deluca's Market on Charles Street in Beacon Hill. According to its web site Deluca's has been in the same location for over 100 years. It's a great place to go for fruit and veggies and various gourmet items if you're in the area.

Red Sox Victory Parade

The Boston Red Sox made their way through the city streets in Duck Tour vehicles (World War II-era amphibious duck boats) today amid the excited roars of over-excited fans. The vehicle with the Sox's General Manager, Theo Epstein, was held up in front of us for a few minutes and the crowd figured it was a good time to voice their opinion by yelling "re-sign Lowell!"--I think Theo was happy when the parade started moving again! Jonathan Papelbon didn't disappoint and even donned a kilt while performing his jig on the back of a truck with the Dropkick Murphys. The top picture is a view from Boylston Street and the bottom pic shows construction workers with a prime view of the parade.

Two Days Left...

The pumpkin distribution line at the Boston Pumpkin Festival. Does anyone know if they broke their own world record from last year of 30,128 lit jack-o-lanterns?

Red Sox Win the World Series!!!!

I watched the winning game of the World Series at a bar opposite Fenway Park last night. Despite it being an away game, the streets surrounding Fenway were alive with people dancing and cheering while police dressed in riot gear kept a watchful eye over the proceedings. At 2:00 am there were thousands of people still on the streets, cars honking their horns in celebration, police in riot gear lined-up at all the major intersections, tv cameras everywhere and several helicopters overhead--the city of Boston was (and still is) overjoyed! (Pictures: the Red Sox celebrating their win shown on screens above bowling lanes at Jillians; Andi and I rejoicing with the police; and Red Sox fans celebrating on Boylston Street.)

Halloween Countdown: 8 days left...

Today's shot is again from the Pumpkin Festival at City Hall Plaza this past weekend. This little guy puts his pumpkin to good use pretending that it's a bowling ball!

This guy has the right idea! I've seen him several mornings doing tai chi on the rooftop opposite our place in Back Bay.

A Different Perspective

I took this photo at an outdoor concert in Copley Square last month and forgot to post it. This dog needed a lift so that it could see the concert like everyone else there. :)

Real dogs....

...don't root for the Yankees. Just ask Coco.

(That's Leyre's dog, by the way)

Introducing Shoooooooooooes!

I randomly ended up with a pair of Red Sox tickets tonight (in the company suite, no less, so free food and booze...and who says no to that?!?), and on my way home the T was packed. I let the first three trains go past while I read my book, and by the time the fourth one came along I decided there was enough room for me right next to the drivers nook. So in I climbed! The T was still shoulder to shoulder, and I noticed that the driver was very cheerful as he warned everyone to watch their backs while the doors closed. He cracked another joke into the PA system, and a woman near me asked him what his name was. "Mr Wonderful - what's yours?!" he said. She asked if his nickname was Shoes, and he said yes. He quickly grabbed is mic and requested a round of applause for the lovely woman up front, and there were applause.

Turns out I was in the presence of a Boston celebrity! Bobby, aka Shoes, has been driving the green line trolleys for about 3 years. He says he just really loves the people, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the people love him as well. So folks, next time you're riding the green line and you hear a cheerful, joking voice coming over the PA, walk up front and say hello to Shoooooooooooooes!

Oh yeah - the nickname? Well.......he loves shoes!

July 1st Theme: Red!

Something Red....and an introduction! That's me and my boyfriend, Pete. We were car sitting these past few days, so got to go on a few adventures that we can't do without wheels. We headed over to Larz Anderson Park in Brookline to take this unique skyline photo. I like to torture Pete by taking lots of photos of him, so here's our self portrait with the skyline behind us...and since Pete was wearing red... I love this view of the Boston skyline because it's just a peak of the tallest building in town, and it reminds you of how much green space there really is so close to the city.

Please check out some of the other 100 City Daily Photo Blogs that are participating in the July theme day by using the links below.

Look Ma, no hands!

The Faneuil Hall Street Performers Festival was this weekend. We headed down and checked out a few of the performers - Magic Dave, Lucky Bob (my personal fave), and the kids pictured above that can do some serious dancing.

Oompa-pa oompa-pa

I've been listening to this guy for the last few days at the Downtown Crossing T stop while I wait for my train home. He smiled when he noticed me move and start lifting my camera to take a picture, but then he studiously avoided looking at me when I was actually taking them!
