This is the mural outside of the Common Ground Cafe, in Dorchester Lower Mills. The Common Ground Cafe serves all organic food and is run by the Twelve Tribes - a Christian community. They have a number of cafe locations throughout the US, including a second MA location in Hyannis (Cape Cod). They have communities throughout the world, including France, Australia, Spain, Canada, Brazil, the UK, Germany, and Argentina. Each of their communities seems to have a business associated with it - cafes, markets selling organic/eco-friendly goods, or a family outfitter. Here's a little blurb from the Twelve Tribes site about their communities:
We live together in households, clans, and tribes, sharing our possessions in common. We strongly support marriage, and we teach our children at home. We dress modestly, eat wholesome food, work hard, pray together, and celebrate our life in music and dance…Click on the image above to enlarge and see the detail in the mural. You can see our other photos of murals here, and photos we've taken of graffiti here.

Nice photo and descriptions. I think we use to have the twelve tribes organic foods, but now can't find it here anymore.
What an interesting post, and lovely mural. Thanks for including info on the community behind the business. That really connects the reader to your experience of the image. Hope you are having a great weekend!

very neat photo and mural.. i like the kids running hand in hand...
12 Tribes, yeah, interesting people. Fenix of Bostonscapes DP did a post on this a few weeks ago.
Not that I am being judgmental..the mural is absolutely awesome...but sounds a bit like a cult!!!
Interesting that the business used the entire wall to advertise. Good shot!
Good one! I like the egg head post too.

How very interesting. It has quite a political tone to it.
Happy Theme Day! May I invite you to visit Norwich Daily Photo?

Interesting mural. I ate at the cafe once and found it quite interesting. They have a nice store as part of the cafe also.
Hmm if Twelve Tribes sells food, do they have a sister shop that sells coffee? Maybe they can call it He Brews. ;-)
LOL @ keropok man!
I could have sworn I came by here yesterday and found Egg Head staring at me, lol.
This is a really cool post.
It sounds like the way most of us would like to live. I hope it works well for them. Their mural is charming. Here is my CDP: Street Art entry (too late for the list). Thank you.
