First Church of Christ, Scientist

This is part of the Christian Science complex in Boston - the Christian Science Monitor is published here, and the church administration and research facility is here as well. I don't know much about it, and I'm interested in learning more. There's also the Mary Baker Eddy Library and Mapparium is also located just on the other side of the church (to the right of this photo). I need to explore more.

Here's the "our live" story for this photo - Leyre and her husband went on their first official date here (well, and dinner, too...)!

The "church" has been around for a long time. The idea behind it was a good one and fostered many conversions over the years. Some converts still need glasses, dentures and artificial limbs. If you know more about the doctrine behind their founding then the last sentence makes you wonder. Still, among the community of religions, this is a mild one compared to those we read about in headlines from around the world.

I don't know much about the church as an institution, but I really do need to get over to the library and learn more about it. It's such a beautiful part of Boston, though - the fountains and the buildings, and at night the lighting is gorgeous!

The Christian Scientist Monitor also happens to be an extraordinarily reputable newspaper renowned in particular for their foreign news correspondence. I read it every day.

Also, for the record we went to dinner on Newbury Street and then walked around the reflecting pool, I don't think we've been there since, but we should definitely go back!

I always wondered what that is. It's name makes it confusing with Scientology, which I guess it must be quite different. I have no idea.
